Marcelo Cantu

Marcelo Cantu is a photographer who was born in 1991 and specializes in portraiture, fashion and conceptual photography. He has graduated from the Parsons School of Design in New York. With each stunning image, Marcelo gives free rein to his curiosity by experimenting, leaving any project he graces with a touch of ingenuity. He is aiming to revive the momentum in the beauty and fashion industry by blazing the trail of uncharted territory.

March/April 2015[]

In March/April 2015, Kylie Jenner worked with Marcelo for the first time and their photoshoot received a huge backlash. He clearly played with the colors throughout, as Kylie appears to have pale blue eyes, magenta hair, and dark, glittery skin. "What I wish I looked like all the time," Kylie captioned one of the pics on her Instagram. To some, Kylie she to be wearing blackfacea term referring to the stage makeup that white people wore to portray black people for decades in minstrel shows in the United States. Blackface has a long and painful significance throughout American history, so to use the look for an artistic decision is to court controversy. Later, she deleted the photos and apologized by revealing that they just used a black light and neon lights.
